It all begins with you. Maybe you want to launch a business. Maybe you want to turn a hobby into something more. Or maybe you have a creative project to share with the world. Whatever it is, this series of workshops led by Gallery Curator, Phoebe R Heath will help you achieve your goals. Content is intended for all makers, including artists, artisans, craftspeople, hobbyists, and more.

What to expect: Each workshop will be approximately 90 minutes in duration and include an introduction with demonstration/supporting materials and time to work with individual assistance. All workshops are BYOT (bring your own technology)! Other materials will be provided.

  • Documenting Your Work

    April 13, 9-10:30am

    Join us for an interactive workshop learning best practices for documenting your finished artwork. There are lots of reasons creative makers need high-quality photographs of their work, from creating a website, applying for exhibitions, ordering prints, to advertising products, and more.

    Required Materials: a few finished examples of creative work, and a digital camera (cell phone is fine). A laptop and/or tablet for photo editing is recommended.

  • Pricing Your Work

    Not sure how much to charge for your creative products? Join us to find out! Using industry-standard methods, we will walk you through the process of putting a value on your passion.

    Be sure to bring a few examples of your work (and perhaps a calculator!). All other materials will be provided.

  • Writing an Artist's Statement

    June 22, 9-10:30am

    Do you dread explaining your visual art, wondering why it can’t just speak for itself? Or maybe you’ve tried writing an Artist’s Statement, but you aren’t sure it’s the best fit. Either way, this is the workshop for you! Join us to learn more about Artist’s Statements and begin writing yours. What are they? Why do artists write them? What specifics are entailed?

    Be sure to bring images of your work. Laptop/tablet for typing optional. All other materials will be provided.

  • Building a Digital Presence

    July 13, 9-10:30am

    In a digital age, it is more important than ever for makers to share their work, but it can be overwhelming! Join us to walk through some basic options and best practices for establishing an online presence for your creative work. You will have time to begin to develop an online presence using the platform of your choice with feedback customized to your unique circumstances.

    Bring the technology of your choice (laptop or tablet recommended) and high-quality images of your work.

  • Session 5

    Exhibiting Your Work

    August 10, 9-10:30am

    Do you have a body of work that you are ready to share with the world, but you aren’t sure what to do next? Learn about the many options that exist in your local region and beyond for exhibiting your creative, visual work. You will have time to work on applying for exhibits with personalized assistance.

    All materials will be provided, though high-quality images of your work, and a tablet/laptop are recommended.
